What a weekend! Our Customer Appreciation Celebration on June 21-22 brought together everything we love most: familiar faces, new friends, good food, great music, and that unmistakable sense of community you just can’t fake.
In both Ramona and Poway, we were honored to welcome longtime customers who’ve been with us for decades, as well as families just starting out on their journey with animals and country living. We swapped stories, shared laughs, and celebrated not just 56 years of Elston’s – but everything that makes this community so special.
We can’t thank you enough for showing up. Your presence turned two great days into something truly unforgettable.

Where It All Began
It all started back in 1962, when John and Nancy Elston loaded up a hay truck and hit the road to serve local ranchers in Del Mar and other parts of San Diego County. What they offered wasn’t just a product, it was dependability, honest advice, and a deep understanding of the rural lifestyle. In 1969, they moved their truckload operation to Ramona and opened a retail shop, and by 1997 opened a second store in Poway, bringing that same level of service and care to even more families.
In 2003, John and Nancy passed the reins to Wayne and Teresa Elston, whose roots in rodeo, 4-H, and ranch life run deep. With them, Elston’s didn’t just grow in size, it’s grown in purpose as well. Today, Slston’s remains a family-led, community-focused business built on the same values that started it all: Integrity, trust, and a genuine love for animals and rural living.
